The Brtzmann evening includes both familar settings (a quintet with Nilssen-Love and some Chicago Tentet types) and unusual ones (a duo with vibist Jason Adasiewicz, which I can't wait to hear). About 180 degrees opposite of the assault of Machine Gun, the recordings reissued last year he did with Han Bennink in the woods, Schwarzwaldfahrt, with sticks, water, etc. Peter Brtzmann is the honoree at this year's Vision Festival, taking place from June 5 through 11.
